Clarkston Chrysler Jeep President Chuck Fortinberry works hard to create customers for life.
The key, he said, is to treat every customer as the dealership’s best customer, by exceeding expectations in sales, service and value.
But in order to meet such lofty goals, Fortinberry knows it’s important his entire staff think in the same terms. That’s why, after a long search for the right person, Fortinberry recently hired Chris Dillaway as the new sales manager.
‘We strive to exceed our customer’s expectations, not just to meet them,? Fortinberry said. ‘That’s why Chris is here. He knows how to do that; he’s focused on it and he’s driven by it.?
Fortinberry, who’s been providing Clarkston-area drivers with new and used cars for 22 years, knows the community demands a good product and great service’he, in turn, expects the same from his employees.
‘I wanted someone who was customer focused,? he said. ‘It’s something you feel, not something you hear coming out of someone’s mouth. Actions speak louder than words.?
But for Dillaway, one simple philosophy works best.
‘Treat people the way you’d want to be treated,? he said. ‘If you like the car, and you like us, we’re going to make you happy.?
Dillaway said he makes a point of getting involved in every single deal, talking to people about the things they need and want in a new car. And, like Fortinberry, he knows it’s important to bring others on board who share the same goals.
‘I’ve hired some great people,? he said. ‘It’s all about who you have working for you, who you have around you.
With two new salespeople, a new finance manager and a used car sales manager, the dealership is enjoying a new period of growth.
Dillaway also hired a new special finance manager to help those who have challenged credit.
‘I’ve known him for 20 years,? Dillaway said. ‘He’s the best in the business’he can fix just about any credit problem. We know bad things happen to good people.?
And Used Car Sales Manager Greg Turzak just signed on last week.
‘I was turned on to this dealership because of their process for selling a used car,? he said. ‘There’s a huge inspection process, a full safety inspection and everything we sell has a warrantee in case if anything goes wrong, top to bottom.?
The used car lot, he said, stocks everything from budget-range on up to luxury vehicles.
Although he’s only been on board a short while, Turzak said he’s happy with his choice to join the group.
‘I’m making friends, having fun and selling cars,? he said.
