For the past few years, Montrose has been the main obstacle for Goodrich’s softball team in the Genesee Area Conference Red Division.
In a May 15 home doubleheader, the Martians overcame that hurdle ? with a big assist from Doerr.
Doerr hurled a perfect game as the Martians defeated Montrose 10-0 in six innings in the opener. The Martians then won the nightcap 11-5.

The Martians spread out the offense in the second game of the twin bill, as they scored three runs in the first inning, three more in the fourth and sixth innings and two in the seventh.
Goodrich pounded out 14 hits in the contest, with several players contributing to the cause. Saindon led the charge with three hits, while Doerr and Cole added two hits apiece. Childress hit a two-run double in the seventh.
Morgan was the benefactor of the Martians? offensive juggernaut, as she picked up the win on the mound.
