According to Captain Dan DeLongchamp of the Independence Fire Department, firefighters rescued a dog stuck in a swampy area off Eston Road on Jan. 18 around 10:30 a.m.
A firefighter donning a water rescue suit was able to pull the boxer from the mud quickly, said DeLongchamp.
The owner of the dog, a Macomb County man who is employed in the area, called 911 to alert the fire department. There were no injuries reported to the dog.
Dog pulled from mud by firefighter

This is the second incident this month involving the rescue of a dog. Two dogs were pulled for frigid waters by Independence Township firefighters after falling through the ice on Woodhull Lake on Jan. 10.
