The water dragons travelled to Waterford Mott High School March 3 in an attempt to improve Orion’s chances in the regional and state meets.
While the last minute bids to qualify for regionals and states proved fruitless for those swimmers that participated, improved relay times inched the team up a bit in their placement.
Head Coach Paul Fairman said the few ‘inches? they may have moved up probably didn’t matter much but added being closer to the faster teams, in terms of swim lanes, generally helps swimmers know how their doing while they swim.
‘The close you are to the faster teams the better you have an idea of where you stand while swimming,? he said. ‘Being close to the faster teams helps a swimmer get moving.?
The state meet will be held at Easter Michigan University on March 9 and 10. Tuesday was the regional match for divers, where Fairman said he expects two or three divers to qualify for the state meet.
