Tennis Coach Eric Bracciano says his boys reached their goals and beyond.
‘The highlight of the season definitely being the two tournaments that we won,? he said of Dragons? win in the Clarkston Invitational and Romeo Invitational.
Overall, they finished third in the league, with a dual match record of 7-2.
Now that the season is over, Bracciano says their toughest opponent was Bloomfield Hills Lahser. Lahser is actually in a different division than Lake Orion, though the coach says Dragons benefited from the experience.
‘It was a good opportunity for our team to see where we were at in reference to a team of that caliber,? he said.
Singles players, particularly Adam Ilenich and Steve Nawrocki, were the heart of the varsity team, according to Bracciano.
‘They were the most consistent throughout the season,? he said, adding ‘Captains Bobby Michels and Tyler Barry also did a nice job in keeping our team motivated and working hard.?
Next year, Bracciano predicts that the team will perform even better.
‘Kids coming back understand what my expectations are for the team,? he said. ‘We have some hard working kids returning next year, and I expect them to improve in the off season.?
To finish off this season, the team hosted a players/parents tournament and barbeque.
