The Lake Orion Fire Department was alerted to a house fire shortly after 3 a.m. this past Sunday. All four stations were sent to the two-story home, located on Bald Mountain Road, off of Silverbell Road.
The stations worked for over five hours to put the fire out, with the last unit leaving the site around 9:30 a.m.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, the fire originated in the garage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the OCSD.
The homeowner was awakened by the sound of the garage door malfunctioning and managed to get out of the house with his family while neighbors dialed 911.
The neighbors on one side of the home were evacuated during the fire as a safety precaution. The other neighbors were not at home.
No damage has been reported to either of the neighboring homes.
