The Village of Oxford is such a visually-appealing community because so many property owners take pride in the places in which they live and do business.
It’s the property owners who wield paint brushes, plant flowers and spend countless hours manicuring their lawns to perfection that keep the village looking like a center spread straight out of Better Homes and Gardens.
To honor those folks who work so hard at keeping their property looking so good, the Oxford Village Beautification Commission recently named 11 winners as part of its 20th Annual Beautification Awards program.
Seven charming homes and four attractive businesses were selected from amongst the 62 nominees this year.
‘There was a tie in both the (residential and business categories), therefore the decision was to add an additional award to each area as opposed to the normal six awards for the residences and three awards for businesses,? said Beautification Commission Chairman Joe Bullen.
Winners in the residential category are:
? 920 Abington Dr. ? Randy and Susan McTaggart
? 557 Thornehill Tr. ? Daniel C. Bowyer
? 572 Thornehill Tr. ? Mike, Mary, Joshua and Ryan Kimbrough
? 718 Woodleigh Way ? Scott and Kathy Landis
? 48 Hovey St. ? Terry and Ruth Forman
? 28 Moyer St. ? James F. Greco
? 60 Pontiac St. ? Brian J. Damaschi
Winners in the business category are:
? 75 W. Burdick St. ? Al B’s Beauty Salon owned by Larry & Shari Berklich
? 51 S. Washington St. ? Lili’s Diner, owned by Stevo Ujilaj — Property owner ? John Spain, Live Tech LLC)
? 91 S. Washington St. ? Oxford Lakes Dental Care/Drs. Daniel and Donna Sahutske
? 125 S. Washington St. ? Oxford School of Music owned by Rick Samanol — Property owner: Charles Schneider
The winners were chosen based on their property’s aesthetic contributions ? landscaping, upkeep, repairs and improvements ? toward the village’s overall appearance.
The awards are designed to encourage others to spruce up or maintain their properties, which has the net effect of beautifying the entire community. Congratulations!
