Goodrich – Goodrich Elementary teacher Mike Ellis is destined for the Oaktree principal’s office.
Ellis, a third-grade teacher who has also been involved in student projects such as Destination ImagiNation, was approved by the Goodrich Board of Education to replace former principal Kim Hart, who took over as district superintendent last month.
Ellis was in the running with contenders Karen Krohn, an elementary principal in Lapeer’s Dryden school, and Jennifer Mudge, a Clio middle school teacher and Title I director.
Interviews with the three candidates were held July 26. The board requested additional time to select a finalist, and tabled the decision until a special July 28 meeting, when members unanimously approved Ellis? appointment.
No contract has yet been negotiated for the new Oaktree Elementary principal.
