Elsworth helps Martians sweep Bentley in twin bill

The recent downcast weather seems to be the only thing stopping the Goodrich varsity baseball team.
The Martians routed host Bentley in an April 21 noneleague doubleheader, taking the opener 15-3 and the nightcap 12-2. Goodrich improved to 11-0 overall and remained at 4-0 in Genesee Area Conference Red Division play.
Kirk Elsworth was one of several Goodrich players to have a productive day at the plate in the opener, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Dom Rivera went 2-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI.
In addition, Matt Hughes, Mike Skinner and Renny Grant each had two hits. Nick Wesener earned the win for Goodrich, pitching six innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits.
The Martians continued their hot hitting in the second game, which was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule. Ben Wilson went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Elsworth went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI and Matt Hughes went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Basil Wilson was the winning pitcher for the Martians, allowing two runs (none earned) on two hits in 3-1/3 innings.
