William E. Scripps Estate will host a Mother’s Day tea and tour on Sunday, May 10. Guests will be treated to a delightful three-course English tea with all the traditional fixings (home made scones, Devonshire cream, salad course, specialty tea sandwiches, and traditional desserts).
Tea will be served in the mansion’s elegant dining room, graced with themed stained glass doors that look over the north terrace gardens.
Visitors will also be given a guided tour of the stately 1927 mansion, which was built by William E. Scripps, the heir to the Detroit News.
Seating is available at 1 p.m. on Mother’s Day. Advance reservations are required.
All tickets are $50 and include a complete interpretive tour of the estate. Members of the Friends of the Scripps Estate will receive special a discount on tickets.
