Entrepreneur works out plan for future

One thing Julianna Cipponeri, 24, learned working a wide variety of jobs since age 14 was she wanted to be her own boss.
‘I don’t want the high demand of corporate America,? she said. ‘If you’re sick or a family emergency, what do you do??
That’s why Cipponeri says owning her own company ‘Peace & Serenity Therapeutic Massage? as a massage therapist and selling Mary Kay as an Independent consultant works out well.
However, she is not out of ‘corporate America,? just yet. She currently works with her older sister Maria, 28, at Bawden Wester and Associates in Birmingham, while she continues to build her cliental for both massage and Mary Kay.
Cipporneri was born in Houston Texas, but moved to Michigan at age two.
‘All of our family is in Michigan,? she said. ‘We lived in Warren, Sterling Heights, and eventually made our way more North to Rochester Hills, and Romeo.?
Cipporneri has lived in the Clarkston area for the past 5 years and currently lives with her younger sister Karla, 23.
‘It’s homey and nice,? she said.
Growing up Cipporneri said she never knew exactly what she wanted to do, other than something in the medical field to help people, but she never saw herself as a doctor.
‘Then my mom and I were talking about all the qualities I have what I’m good at, my personality traits we talked about everything,? she said. ‘Then we started talking about massage therapy school.?
Having gone through physical therapy a few times as well as getting massages while having Fibromyalgia for four years, she said she saw the importance and thought it would be a good fit for her.
‘Physical therapy is my ultimate goal, it’s a lot more schooling but that’s OK, Cipporneri said. ‘Massage therapy is a stepping stone to learn about the body and the systems and how it all works.?
Even before going to massage therapy school she was giving foot massages to her sister while she was pregnant.
Cipporneri received her certificate in December of 2007 from the Flint School of Therapeutic Massage.
She had also considered becoming an interrupter after, studying sign language at Oakland Community College for a couple years.
‘It’s really high in demand, but it was easier to sign than to read it,? she said with a laugh.
Another reason for wanting to do massage therapy was to make it more affordable for everyone.
‘I want to be there to help everybody,? she said. ‘If people can’t afford it I can work with them.?
Cipporneri does a variety of massages including: Swedish, hot stone, pre-natal, sports, reflexology, chair, and deep tissue.
I love giving massages. It gives you that good feeling and I feel better afterwards, more relaxed,? she said. ‘Because it’s the environment I want to be in, it’s ‘peace and serenity.??
