Essay contest will really put a smile on mom’s face

Dr. Scott A. Tyler, Dr. John J. Dumas and Dr. Brian C. Reyes, partners in the Rochester Hills and Birmingham-based orthodontic practice of Tyler, Dumas, Reyes, have announced they will sponsor a Mother’s Day essay contest that will provide a new smile to the mother of the student who pens the winning essay.
The ‘Why My Mom Deserves to Smile? contest invites students to write essays detailing how their mother has made a difference in their lives, someone else’s life or in the community in 500 words or less. Students also have the option to submit a photo of their mother’s smile in addition to their essay.
The grand-prize winner’s mother will receive cost-free orthodontic treatment courtesy of Tyler, Dumas, Reyes.
The practice said that their greatest response to date has come from students in the Lake Orion district.
‘Mothers are hard-working, dedicated, selfless people who often put their children’s needs before their own,? said Dr. Dumas. ‘By sponsoring ‘Why My Mom Deserves To Smile? in honor of Mother’s Day, we will offer a mother a life-changing experience in enhancing her smile by providing cost-free orthodontic treatment. Its our chance to give back to the community and to mothers, who are often overlooked.?
The contest is open to students ages 8-17 currently enrolled in a school located in Oakland County.
Essays are being accepted through Friday, May 4. The author of the winning essay will be notified on Thursday, May 10.
