A power outage last Monday along the Baldwin Road corridor was caused by a tree that fell on a power feeder.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, a contracting company from Orion Township was bringing the tree down, but it fell in a direction other than what was anticipated.
The Orion Fire Department was able to control the fire until Detroit Edison disabled the downed power lines.
The downed lines also started a grass fire, that the fire department was able to control.
The fire occurred near the structures at 4301 Baldwin, and knocked out power from Brown Road to Waldon Road.
According to the OCSD report, Detroit Edison restored power to the area in a matter of hours.
