Fan frenzy; it’s Super Bowl time

There are many symbolic days in a year for American culture. There are days to remember, days to mourn, and of course, days to celebrate. Perhaps one of the biggest celebratory excuses across the country comes only once a year, at the end of January.
That’s right, Super Bowl Sunday. Nationally, it is the biggest non-holiday day of the year for parties, get-togethers and football fans. It is also the biggest commercial advertising day of the year.
Locally, numerous local gathering sites are hosting Super Bowl parties for their patrons. Two of the main events will be at Bullfrogs in Ortonville and the Bullring in Goodrich.
“We are having a collage of beer and food specials and a free buffet table of appetizers during the game,” said Joe Francis, Bullfrogs general manager. “We are giving away the food as a thank you to our customers for coming out all football season and spending Sundays and Mondays with us. It’s a pretty big party, and we will enjoy every quarter.”
Bullfrogs customers will have the benefit of enjoying 16 screens to watch the game, all hooked into the overhead sound system for optimum quality.
“There is not a bad seat in the house,” Francis said. On an average Super Bowl, Bullfrogs expects to see more than 450 patrons enjoying themselves over the course of the day.
In Goodrich, the Bullring will serve up fun from 6 p.m. to the end of the game with half-off pizza prices and dollar-off pitchers of beer. “Its a bigger day for us year to year,” said Lisa Stowell of the Bullring. To sweeten the deal the Bullring will also be giving away prizes during the game.
Planning on staying in? Pick up party supplies at the Goodrich IGA, Bueche’s Food World, or order a party sub to go from either the Ortonville or Goodrich Subways.
“It gets crazy in here for Super Bowl,” Bueche’s Assistant Store Director Diane Ridley said. “It’s just as packed as before Christmas or New Year’s, things just fly off the shelves. It’s unbelievable.”
