The Wild Ones, North Oakland Chapter, and North Oakland Land Conservancy host a free Phragmites Demonstration Workshop, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, at Deer Lake Beach.
Participants will learn how to properly control small infestations of Phragmites on your property. Invasive species control starter kits will be available for all attendees ? $9 donation requested.
All participants should wear work gloves and boots, and bring clippers to cut phragmites stems. Wild Ones is a national non-profit environmental education, native plant, and native landscapes advocacy group.
