The Orion Township Fire Department will purchase a used rescue unit from the Oxford Fire Department, who recently purchased two new units.
The used unit is a 1995 Ford/Horton, in excellent condition according to fire chief Jeff Key, and has less than 20,000 miles on it. The vehicle was appraised at and was authorized to be sold for $28,500.
Key said the vehicle will be housed at one of the township’s existing stations until the new Baldwin Road station is complete, at which time the vehicle will be permanently housed there. The purchase was funded by the Fire Capital Improvement Fund.
