Firefighters to get $93,038 in funding

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, announced this week that the Orion Township Fire Department will receive $93,038 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The funds help to meet firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical services organizations.
‘Our firefighters and first responders are on the front line every day, keeping the community and families safe,? Rogers said. ‘This grant will provide Orion firefighters with additional resources necessary to continue protecting all of us.?
Since 2001, Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) have helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
The office of Grants and Training in the Department of Homeland Security administers the grants in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
