They are just about everywhere and almost anyone can purchase them.
Packages and packages of ‘at home? fireworks can be found in just about any store from the gas station down the road to the major chain just outside of town.
But there is a catch – most of them are illegal.
According to Oxford Village Police Chief Mike Neymanowski, pretty much all of the fireworks sold in kits in stores are against the law.
‘Anything that leaves the ground is illegal and you can be cited for it,? he explained.
A few examples of those allowed by law are sparklers, caps and poppers; however, even these should be used by children under close adult supervision.
So when considering fireworks, Neymanowski gives one piece of advice – he recommends just going out and enjoying the professionally run fireworks programs presented locally.
Make sure to have a happy and safe Fourth of July.
