Brandon Twp.- School board members will have five candidates to interview on Monday night for appointment to a trustee seat.
When the deadline passed at 4 p.m. Wednesday, five district residents, Sherry Bonadies, Cody Hibbs, Douglass Kneller, Kevin McClellan and Denise Vanden Bossche, had applied to be appointed to the seat vacated by Beth Nuccio, who has been elected Oakland County Commissioner, District 1.
The board must now decide who will serve the remainder of Nuccio’s term, from Dec. 14, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2011. The board will interview the candidates beginning at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 6, at the central district office, 1025 S. Ortonville Road and will appoint one as a trustee a week later during the regularly scheduled board meeting, 6:30 p.m., Dec. 13.
The candidates all submitted resumes and letters explaining their interest in being appointed to the board.
Bonadies has been a global commodity manager for General Motors for the past two years and has an engineering career with GM and Delphi that dates back to 1983. She received her bachelor’s degree in materials science engineering from Purdue University in 1986 and earned her master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Dayton in 2004.
Hibbs is a 2009 Brandon High School graduate and served as student liaison to the Brandon Board of Education from 2006-2009. He is currently a sophomore at Michigan State University, majoring in accounting and economics. Hibbs is an intern for State Representative Paul Scott and served as Nuccio’s campaign manager.
Kneller retired last year from General Motors, where he had 36 years of service as an engineering manager. He earned his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1981 and has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
McClellan is division president of Assembly & Test Worldwide of Livonia, a global auto industry supplier. He has been with the company since 2006. McClellan earned his master’s degree in global management in 2001 from the University of Phoenix and received a bachelor’s degree in management from Ferris State University in 1989.
Vanden Bossche has served the school district as a substitute teacher and substitute paraprofessional since 2003. She served on the Harvey Swanson parent board for five years and as president of the Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School PTO for two years.
