Davisburg Elementary dedicated a new set of flag poles, June 4, with the help of local veterans.
“Our old flag pole was rusty and hidden by a tree,” said Principal Barb Bloom at the flag ceremony, attended by the entire school. “It wasn’t a nice way to treat something so very important to the country.”
American Legion, Eagles and other organizations donated to the school to help purchase and install three new flag poles.
Students sang the National Anthem, American the Beautiful, and other songs at the ceremony. They were also involved in efforts during the school year including donating items for care packages for soldiers, studying core democratic values, and honoring local service members on their bulletin boards.
“This is something our Parent Teacher Connection decided to do at the beginning of the year,” Bloom said. “The flag is dedicated to veterans for their service to the country.”
