Two former area residents have been sentenced in connection with a string of local home invasions.
Danie Vore, 31, formerly of Groveland Township, was sentenced Dec. 9 in front of Sixth Circuit Court Judge Rudy Nichols to seven to 30 years in prison after being convicted of four counts of home invasion, second degree, as well as being a habitual offender.
Jessica Herbst, 24, formerly of Brandon Township., was sentenced Oct. 14 also in front of Nichols, to three to 15 years in prison after being convicted of three counts of home invasion, second degree. Both Herbst and Vore must pay more $5,657 in restitution.
According to police reports, in May, Herbst and Vore were arrested after a tipster called the Oakland County Brandon Substation with information after reading an article in The Citizen about multiple area home invasions. The home invasions occurred in Genesee, Lapeer and Oakland counties. The caller said he knew of a vehicle similar to a vehicle described in the article. Oakland County deputies investigated the incident and put together a packet that was forwarded to Detective Steve Pearson, OCSO Fugitive Team. This information was also provided to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department and the Metamora Police Department. Felony warrants were also obtained in Lapeer County.
One of the suspects, who confessed in a patrol car, showed deputies some of the sites of the approximately 50 home invasions. The suspect admitted to doing two home invasions per day from the beginning of April until the spree ended with their arrests in May.
