At 7 p.m., March 28, the Atlas Township Board of Trustees will interview four candidates for one trustee seat vacated following the resignation of trustee Scott Statson earlier this year.
A total of 12 applications were received for the seat by the March 8 deadline. Statson stepped down due to work obligations.
The term will end in November 2012.
Atlas Township Supervisor Shirley Kautman-Jones, Trustee Barry June, Clerk Tere Onica and Treasurer Ann Marie Slagle will interview in a public forum Rick Miesk, who currently serves on the zoning board of appeals and is chairman of the township planning commission; John Sheerin, a Swartz Creek police officer; Thomas Sanford, who serves on the township board of review and owns his own business in mechanical construction and chimney sweeping; and Paul Amman, a township trustee from 1996 to 2000, and supervisor from 2000 to 2008. Amman lost the primary election in November 2010 as a write-in candidate to the current township supervisor, Shirley Kautman-Jones.
Requirements of the seat are to be attend regular meetings and participate in a variety of special meetings.The pay is $5,618.04 per year.
The interviews are at the Atlas Township offices, 7386 Gale Road, Goodrich.
