A four-vehicle accident on M-24 ? just north of Drahner Road in front of the Big Boy ? sent one driver and her young passengers to the hospital August 4.
It started when the southbound 1994 Chrysler (shown above), driven by a 31-year-old Elkton woman, failed to stop and rear-ended a 2003 Ford pick-up truck driven by a 20-year-old Lapeer man.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report, this collision spawned a ‘chain reaction? causing the Ford truck to rear-end a 1998 Dodge (driven by a 37-year-old Lake Orion woman) which in turn rear-ended a 1999 Ford (driven by a 36-year-old Oxford woman).
The Elkton woman who caused the accident was transported via ambulance to the POH Medical Center in Pontiac, along with her four young children.
Two boys and two girls, ranging in age from 1 to 7, were her passengers at the time of the accident.
None of the children were wearing seat belts, according to the sheriff’s report.
The Elkton woman was cited by deputies for failing to stop in an assured clear distance and for not having her child passengers restrained.
The drivers and passengers in the other vehicles did not require transportation to the hospital.
