One of Oxford’s vacant buildings is in the process of being recycled and repurposed.
Work began last week on transforming the vacant Comerica banking facility, located at M-24 and Minnetonka, into a brand new office for local dentist Dr. Adel Magid and his practice, Oxford Professional Dentistry.

The Comerica branch closed in May 2008 after nearly 18 years of serving the Oxford area and has sat vacant ever since.
Magid is hoping to have his new office open by early April 2011. The 3,100-square-foot building is more than three times the size of his current office at 837 S. Lapeer Rd.
Magid, who’s been practicing in Oxford for 10 years, said the new office is needed to accommodate his growing list of patients, most of whom have come from referrals.
‘It’s a nice, friendly office,? he said. ‘Patients feel comfortable coming here and having their teeth worked on. It almost feels like family really. We keep it light in the office. Patient comfort comes first.?
Additional space will allow the practice to utilize more state-of-the-art equipment, such as a digital X-ray system, for serving patients.
‘We’ll have computers in every single room,? Magid said.
The new building also offers the practice more exposure. ‘Right now, our location is not very visible. You can’t really see the sign very well,? Magid said.
