Parents took their students to the Springfield Plains Elementary school fair on Saturday to have fun and support the fundraising effort to raise money for new playground equipment at the school.
A variety of activities, from getting ‘locked up? in jail to games and events as well as silent and live actions, were included in the day filled with fun for both parents and students.
Local businesses chipped in their services and goods to help the fundraising committee raise money for the new play area.
‘We have over $5,000 worth of items for our live auction and we also have 46 different live auction’s today,? said Melisa Taylor, co-chair of the committee. ‘All the money we raise goes to our playground.?
Each class at the school also collected donations and created a basket of goodies to raffle at the fair.
Before the school fair about $14,000 had been raised for the playground. The group estimates it must raise between $125,000 and $160,000 for the new play equipment.
