From beauty queens to babies to free ice cream and candy, from tracters, trucks and fire engines to marching bands and pom pon squads, the Clarkston Independence Day Parade had something for everyone.
‘Everyone was in a festive mood,? said Dale Ryan, who was serving his16th year as parade MC. ‘It’s Like an old town homecoming.?
Ryan, who’s known as the voice of the Clarkston Wolves, laughed and joked with riders on many of the parade’s 110 entries they went by his post near Clarkston State Bank on Main Street.
Granddaughters Sarah, 9, ,and Alyson recited the Pledge of Allegience, ,and grandson Eli, 1, attended the event for the first time.
Ryan, however, was pleased with all the kids .’It was good to see them cooperating and taying behind that yellow tape,? he said, laughing that it did get a little difficult for some when floats with free ice cream came by. ‘They did a great job.?
