Gala good time for all Dragons

While the dragon ice sculpture gleamed, spirits were high at the Orion Art Centers gala fund-raiser on March 12 at Addison Oaks ballroom. The elegant evening was a resounding success with great people, delicious food and lots of dancing to stellar entertainment by the George Brothers band. Longtime art center support Sandy Mabery served as honorary chairperson, Deena Centifonti of Fox2Detroit was on hand to talk about community spirit and the exciting dragon boat races coming to the Dragon on the Lake Summer Festival in late August.
Clarkston artist Mike Hendrix was chosen as Artist of the Year and Sue Willick was honored as the 2011 Patron of the Arts. Guests were very generous with their bids and took home art, trips, and great packages for the sake of community arts. Creative jeweler, Diamond Dave Schurman, who loaned the Orion Art Center space for their holiday market in December, traded the adorable puppy for a one year lease at his building space on Lapeer Road! The Art Center is extremely exciting about this opportunity and is currently making plans for use of both spaces.
