If you’ve ever gone on a bike excursion and had a flat tire, you know the feeling of helplessness as you push your bike toward home.
For those who use the 16.9-mile Polly Ann Trail, which snakes through northern Oakland County, there is some help.
There is a now a five-foot cylinder ‘fix-it station? made of galvanized steel along the trail to help bikers repair tires.
Inside the cylinder are eight basic tools to help with simple repairs.
There also is an air pump for tires.
The fix-it station is between Waldon and Greenshield Roads, just off the Polly Ann Trail in the Orion Township Park.
Two more stations are planned along the trail in Oxford and Leonard for the many riders who enjoy the trail.
The funding for the fix-it station came from the Zombie Fun Run held in October 2014. A second Zombie Fun Run is scheduled for October 24, 2015 shortly after 6 p.m., which apparently is the appropriate time for zombies who enjoy fun.
The goal of the fun run to to raise funds for the remaining two fix-it stations along the Polly Ann Trail, according to trail director, Pat Ball.
