Need a haircut?
Why not put your hair, or the price of a haircut, to a good cause?
Rumourz Hair Salon is hosting their sixth annual Locks of Love Benefit on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Rumourz will be collecting donations of at least 10 inches of hair, or will donate the price of your haircut and styling (between $25 and $45) to Locks of Love. Those who donate 10 inches of hair will receive a free cut and styling.
Locks of Love is a not-for-profit organization that provides recipients with a custom, vacuum-fitted hairpiece from human hair. This hairpiece does not require the use of adhesives, and can be worn while playing sports, and even while showering or swimming.
The goal of Locks of Love is to restore kids? self confidence. Pam Martin said that was why Rumourz decided to start the benefit six years ago.
‘It was something we all care about,? she said. ‘Your hair is something that affects how you feel about yourself.?
Donated hair must be at least 10 inches in length, must be bundled in a ponytail or braid, and cannot be bleached. Hair that has been dyed or permed is permitted. Monetary donations are tax deductible.
The day will also include a prize for the longest ponytail, along with refreshments and balloons.
Rumourz organizers encourage families to get involved because this kind of benefit helps kids feel like they’re part of something. For those that can’t make it this weekend, or if they haven’t quite reached the 10-inch requirement, Rumourz collects hair donations all year round, so feel free to stop by anytime.
