Proceeds from a Feb. 21 spaghetti dinner went to help the Swindlehurst family of Clarkston whose son and brother Duane II was hospitalized with Arteriovenous Malformation since Jan. 16.
AVM is a congenital disorder of blood vessels in the brain, present at birth, which is characterized by a tangle of abnormal veins and arteries.
Family friend Beth Van Horn helped organize the dinner. According to Duane’s cousin Jaclyn Stork, the 20-year-old is improving and was recently moved from Providence Hospital in Southfield.
Duane is at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan in Detroit to work on regaining his motor skills. Stork anticipated Duane would need another surgery in the second week of March.
