The Oxford Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is excited to bring fresh, healthy and local produce to downtown Oxford with the debut of a Farmer’s Market in the northwest parking lot directly behind the Northeast Oakland Historical Museum.
Beginning May 27, simultaneously with Oxford’s Concerts in the Parks series in Centennial Park, and continuing every Thursday through October from 2 p.m. to dusk, the Oxford Famer’s Market will offer Oxford residents Michigan grown fruits and vegetables at affordable prices.
Sponsored by Don Sherman State Farm Insurance and POH Regional Medical Center, the Oxford Famer’s Market will be under the direction of Michael and Kathy Wieland, of Wieland Productions, and include anywhere from 10 to 25 vendors on a weekly basis.
In addition to fruits and vegetables, vendors will be selling soaps, breads, honey, kettle corn, pasta, fudge and much more.
Furthermore, every Thursday there will be a different theme to the Oxford Famer’s Market. The opening day theme on May 27 will be ‘Plant One for Mother Nature.?
At this market day kick-off event, one free spruce tree will be given to the first 100 families courtesy of Oakland County Commissioner Brad Jacobsen. Master Gardeners will be at the market to share planting ideas and knowledge with all.
