The Goodrich girls basketball team got off to a good start in Genesee Area Conference Red Division play Sept. 16.
The host Martians defeated Lake Fenton in their league opener 65-49, improving their season record to 3-1.
On Sept. 9, the Martians earned a 49-38 win against visiting Oxford. Nykole Pfaff led the Martians with 15 points, while Shannon Harbin added 9 points.
Goodrich coach Jason Gray said he is pleased with the team’s early-season performance.
“Considering we lost a lot of experience (the Martians lost five seniors from last year’s squad), I feel good about how we’ve played so far,” he said. “It’s important that we get some victories and confidence under our belts.”
Goodrich returns to action Sept. 23 when they travel to Mt. Morris.
