GHS grad awarded for body building

For Rebecca Bowers, being an athlete is not just a job, but a significant part of her life.
The 2003 Goodrich graduate is taking to the stage across the nation, and hopefully overseas, as a professional figure athlete.
‘I was always an athlete,? said Bowers. She has been lifting weights for the past six years, and competed in her first figure competition in July 2010. Not long after, she placed third at USA’s in Las Vegas. It takes a lot of consistency and diligence,? said Bowers. ‘I put myself through it.?
Adding to her list of accomplishments, Bowers was awarded the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness) Pro card, a ‘very prestigious title,? after competing at Team Universe in July 2011.
Currently, Bowers is preparing for the new season, and has been training four to six days a week for the upcoming shows beginning in early 2012. Eventually, Bowers said she would like to have the opportunity to compete overseas.
