Girl Scouts hit century mark

It’s been 12 years since Holly Lustig sold her first box of Girl Scout Cookies.
‘Thin Mints, top seller,? said Lustig, a Goodrich High School senior and Girl Scout Troop 10254 ambassador.
‘The peanut butter (cookie) gives them a run for their money.?
Lustig will be one of thousands of scouts nationwide selling Girl Scout cookies this year.
A new cookie marking 100 years of Girl Scouts is the Savannah Smile.
‘A crunchy cookie with an unexpected lemon bite,? said Lustig of the new cookie.
‘Savannah Smile? is named for Savannah, Georgia, the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA, who lived from 1860 to 1927.
The price of boxes this year is $3.50, with some variance, and the sale runs from Jan. 15 to March 25. Booth sales will begin Feb. 17. For more information, visit the website of the Girl Scouts of Southeast Michigan at www.gssem.org.
