It was a strong showing from the Oxford High School’s boys and girls track teams at the Oxford Invitational last Saturday, April 28.
Out of 26 teams competing, the OHS boys finished in the top 15; of 23 schools competing, the OHS girls finished eighth.
Lake Orion finished first in the men’s competition, and Ortonville-Brandon grabbed first in the women’s meet.
Standouts for the Oxford men included 3200 relay teammates Glacier Wallington, Mike Tuski, Ryan Gillespie, and Anthony Cappuccilli who placed fourth in their event.
Anthony Cappuccilli finsished second in the 800m with an impressive time of 1:58.64.
In the women’s meet, standout performers were Sarah Hillebrand who cleared` 9?00.00″ in the pole vault; Bri Jackson, who ran 100 meters in 13.10; and Brooke Kovacic who came in second in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs.
Kovacic set personal and school records in both the 1600m (4:57.70) and the 3200m (10:48.55).
Coach Robert Blunk said the meet was ‘very, very competitive,? with phenomenal performances that made the invitation seem like ‘a mini-state? matchup.
