Goodrich’s girls basketball team continued its yearly habit of winning division titles.
The visiting Martians routed Mt. Morris 73-15 on Nov. 2 to win their third straight Genesee Area Conference Red Division title. Goodrich is now 14-3 overall and 11-2 in the GAC Red Division.
Junior Nykole Pfaff scored 21 points while sophomore Autumn Haggadone scored 12 for Goodrich, which has won seven straight division titles ? the first four coming before the split of the GAC into two divisions.
The Martians also earned a 72-23 win against visiting Byron Oct. 28.
The two teams hung tough for a quarter, with Goodrich holding an 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, it was all Goodrich from there, as the Martians outscored Byron 25-10 in the second quarter and 29-0 in the third quarter.
Pfaff and senior Maribeth Barns both lit it up from behind the three-point line, with each connecting on three shots from long distance. Pfaff led the Martians with 19 points, while Barns added 18.
Kortni Elsworth added 10 points for the Martians.
