Goodrich getting out-of-district students

Goodrich – As many as 21 Genesee County students’and their siblings’may join the ranks of Goodrich students this fall.
The decision to accept out-of-district Genesee County students received all ayes at the April 25 Goodrich Board of Education meeting.
Board members wrestled over whether to accept elementary, middle school, and high school students into the district, with possible reduced class sizes from teacher layoffs.
‘I’m willing to take the risk and go for the gusto, because we need the money,? said board vice president Ken Rappuhn.
Districts receive approximately $6,700 in state funds for each student. Once accepted into the district through the Schools of Choice lottery, students are entitled to remain Goodrich students until they and their siblings graduate.
