The Goodrich girls cross country team made a bit of history Oct. 8.
Six Martian runners finished under 20 minutes ? the first Flint-area girls team to ever accomplish that feat ? as Goodrich outdistanced the field at the Bob Bloomer County Classic.
The Martians finished with a meet-record 20 points, easily defeating second-place Grand Blanc (78) and third-place Flushing (91).
Goodrich achieved the milestone when sophomore Kelsey Meyers crossed the finish line in 19:57.6 and freshman Mary Haiderer followed at 19:58.2, placing eighth and ninth, respectively, among all competitors.
Senior Janee Jones won the meet with a time of 18:11.4, leading a pack of four Goodrich runners in the top five. Kaitlin O’Mara finished third (19:25.1), while Kayla O’Mara took fourth (19:28.9) and Kelsey Krych fifth (19:37.1).
