Goodrich — The two remaining undefeated varsity boys basketball teams in the Flint Metro League’s Stars Division faced off against each other at Goodrich High School on Jan., 10
The Lake Fenton Blue Devils kept it close with Martians for the first quarter 19-16, but were outscored 22-6 in the second quarter, eventually resulting in an 83-47  Martians’ victory.
GHS Jensen LePla couldn’t stop and scored a game-high 38 points, three rebounds and three steals despite not playing in the fourth quarter.
Lake Fenton’s Sam Yeaster hit two three-pointers while Coleson Lessner also scored six points.
The 22-6 Goodrich edge in the second half was just too much for Lake Fenton to overcome. LePla scored nine more points in that stanza. Goodrich led 41-22 at halftime.
The Martians never slowed down in the second half. LePla scored 17 of Goodrich’s 29 third-quarter points. Lake Fenton trailed 70-34 entering the final quarter.
Lake Fenton was led by Lessner’s 14 points while Brady Belcher had 8 points. Kevin Blair chipped in seven points.
