Goodrich Martians bitten by Chelsea Bulldogs in D-2 Regional Semi-Final

Charlotte — The Goodrich Martians Boys Varsity basketball team jumped out to an 18-10 lead over the Chelsea Bulldogs on Tuesday night at Charlotte in the Michigan High School Athletic Association D2 Regional Semi-finals but could not hold on and lost 57-40. The Martians finished their season with a 19-6 season record. The Bulldogs (17-8) will take on Lansing Sexton in the Regional finals.
GHS Soph. #4 Colt Maynard led the way with 19 points, two boards and two steals; GHS Sr. #1 Parker LePla had 12 points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block; GHS Soph. #21 Drew Aagesen, six points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal, GHS Fr. #11 Isaac Valley had points, two rebounds and two assists and GHS Jr. #40 Miles Washington, one point and one rebound.
The Martians punched their ticket in the district finals with a win over Powers High School Chargers at Kearsley High School on Feb. 28. The Martians were up by two 46-44 at halftime then exploded for 22 points in the fourth quarter en route to a 68-54 win. GHS Parker LePla had 24 points, nine boards, seven assists and four blocks, teammate Drew Aagesen added 17 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one block.
