Goodrich’s Doerr, Christiansen hurl no-hitters against Hamady

It was a complete whitewashing by the Goodrich softball team.
The Martians routed host Hamady in both ends of a doubleheader April 15. Goodrich won the first game 23-0 and the second game 18-0, with both games lasting three innings. Emily Doerr threw a no-hitter for Goodrich in the opener, while Erin Christiansen did likewise in the nightcap.
The Martians improved their season record to 7-4 overall and 6-0 in the Genesee Area Conference.
Doerr fanned seven Hamady batters out of the nine she faced to pick up the win in the opener, improving her season record to 3-2.
Cristina Garcia tallied three hits and drove in four runs to lead the Goodrich offense, including a two-run triple in the second inning to key a 13-run output in that frame.
Christiansen had two hits and three RBI. Doerr, Julie Owen and Christina Saindon had two singles apiece, while Kristian Childress contributed two doubles for the Martians.
In the nightcap, Christiansen struck out five hitters in her no-hit effort. She faced 11 batters in the three-inning contest to pick up her first win of the season against two losses.
Seven Goodrich batters had at least one hit in the second game. Sarah Barns had three hits (including two doubles) and four RBI to lead the Martians, while Owen and Saindon added three hits and two RBI apiece.
Garcia, Kristie Cole and Lauren Heidenberger chipped in with two hits apiece for the Martians, with Heidenberger driving in two runs and Garcia one. Christiansen went one-for-three with two RBI.
