Atlas Twp.- The fire department was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $2,421.25 to buy a vehicle stabilizer.
This grant is being provided by the Hundred Club of Flint.
Chief Fred Forys said the stabilizer will be used by the department to secure vehicles that have been tipped in accidents so victims may be safely extracted.
Forys said he is pleased to get the grant money.
‘I think it’s great. It’s like receiving a gift. It’s like getting something for free. It helps out a lot that we don’t have to spend budgeted money… this club helps out a lot with fire departments in the area to help make our job a little safer,? said Forys.
Forys said the stabilizer has been ordered and is expected to arrive at the department soon.
A training session will then be conducted to teach the department about the proper way to use the stabilizer, Forys said.
