Green streaming field trip

Scripps Middle School eighth grade students had a wet and wild field day last week at the Paint Creek River and Orion Art Center.
In conjunction with the Clinton River Water Shed Council and the GM Orion Assembly that initially donated waders and nets, students rummaged through the river in search of benthic macroinvertebrates.
The diversity of these bottom dwellers indicates river pollution, said Scripps science teacher Carol Binggeser.
All paperwork and testing materials come from the Clinton River Watershed council. In return, the council uses student data in their annual report sent to the state.
‘This is real science, you can’t get any more real than this,? Bissenger said.
