Hansons, village team up for Jan. 1 run

To celebrate its future move to Lake Orion, Hansons Running Shop is teaming up with the local Main Street Organization, Downtown Lake Orion, to host the fifth Annual New Year’s Resolution Run.
This year’s organizers expect it to be even more fun than before. ‘I can’t wait to see what costumes are worn by those crazy runners this year,? Sara Lieblein, LOHS senior and a regular participant in the run, says
Many walkers also participate. ‘I love this event.? says Rosemary Ford, wife of well-known LOHS Coach Stan Ford. ‘It’s a great way to get up, get rolling and start the New Year. It just makes me think of new beginnings, because it’s on New Year’s Day and I’m starting out the New Year in a healthy way.?
The circular route runs through the downtown, the historic residential district, the new homes on The Shores of Long Lake and through Meeks Park.
Healthy snacks will be provided after the race by Global Soccer and Lucky’s Natural Foods.
Both 5K and 1.5 mile routes are available. Race begins at 10 a.m. Entry fees are $15 for pre-registered runners, $20 for registration the day of the race and $10 for children under 12.
