Brandon Blackhawks boys varsity soccer team played its second game of the season against the Waterford Kettering Captains. The Blackhawks started off strong both offensively and defensively. With 10 minutes left in the first half, Bruce Bayley scored the first goal for the Hawks off a rebound from a corner kick.
‘We got up early doing what we needed to do,? said Brandon Coach Phil Kimmel.
Although the Hawks continued to control the ball, the Captains answered with a goal by Forrest Johnson with only 2 minutes remaining in the first half.
In the beginning of the second half, Ben Stowers drove the ball down to the bottom right side of the box, dribbled through two defenders and passed the ball to Cameron Craig. Cameron took a nice shot, only to be stopped by Waterford goalkeeper, Justin Haley. The Hawks continued to move the ball well. Then with only 2 minutes remaining in the game, Ben Stowers missed another opportunity when he brought the ball down the left side of the field and shot a rocket just inches over the top cross bar. The game remained intense, but ended in a 1-1 tie.
