Help clean up Oakland Township on May 1

Oakland Township’s 35th ‘Clean Scene? takes place on May 1, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. It’s an opportunity not only to improve the quality of the township, but also a chance to meet other residents.
On Saturday, teams, families, scouting troops as well as individual residents will pick up trash bags and collect roadside garbage and debris that has accumulated during the winter. The trash bags are available at the Oakland Township Hall, located on Collins Road.
Waste Management will provide a compactor truck and a flatbed truck for metal. The disposal trucks will be at the township hall parking lot during the clean up.
Volunteers with trucks and trailers are needed for collecting the trash left on the roadside. The township is also accepting tree or bush clippings on the clean up day.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the areas that aren’t as densely populated.
Morning coffee and donuts and/or hotdogs and beverages will be served later in the day.
To volunteer, call the township offices at 248-651-4440, ext. 200 or visit www.oaklandtownship.org for more information.
