Helping children see

Clarkston Area Lions Club provided free screening to 43 children at Independence Township Parks and Recreation’s Egg Mania this past March.
Special photographs were taken of the children’s eyes. The pictures were sent to Children’s Hospital where they are reviewed by trained professionals to identify abnormalities that may indicate an undetected vision problem of one or both eyes.
The screening can detect most problems that cause poor vision in young children, including improperly aligned eyes, nearsightedness, farsightedness, cataracts, and droopy eye-lid.
The Lions purchased the special cameras and film as a service to the community.
