High school, middle school bands eye states

Goodrich – For the first time in school history, the bands and choirs at the high school and middle school received straight one – superior ratings at a recent musical meet, which has qualified them to participate in upcoming state competitions in April.
‘This is a historical year,? said Choir Director Jennifer Davis. ‘It is the first year that all four levels in band and choir have had superior ratings at the same time.?
Davis said the choir was required to sing two contrasting pieces that show the versatility of the choir. She said the middle school sang, ‘When I am Silent? and the ‘Belle of Belfast.? The high school sang ‘Cantar? and ‘Cantique DeJean Racine.?
Both choirs were also required to sight read a musical piece they hadn’t seen before.
The band festival, which ran during the end of February through the beginning of March, was evaluated by three performance judges and one sight-reading judge.
