Mannik & Smith have been hired by village officials to continue work on an historic district proposal that was begun a few years ago but not finished.
Requests for proposals were sent out to 13 different persons/firms. According to Lake Orion Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel, five proposals were received.
Council members on Oct. 25 decided to contract with Mannik & Smith for Phase A of the project for a cost not to exceed $5,760. The first phase consists of complying and assessing existing data and identifying areas and sites that hold a high degree of historic potential.
A contract with the company for Phase B will be considered by village officials after work on Phase A is done. Mannik & Smith have estimated Phase B will cost $26,316.
