Home Instead plays Santa to overlooked seniors

The Clarkston office of Home Instead Senior Care is teaming with several non-profit agencies to provide presents to seniors who otherwise might not receive a gift this holiday season.
‘Be a Santa to a Senior? runs through Dec. 13. Here’s how the program works: the non-profit organizations, such as the Independence Township Senior Center, have identified financially needy and lonely seniors in the community and provided names to Home Instead. Christmas trees, located at participating Walgreens and CVS stores, contain ornaments with the first names and their gift requests.
‘Be a Santa to a Senior? asks holiday shoppers to purchase the items on the list and them leave them at the store with the ornament attached. Home Instead will coordinate the distribution of the presents.
Participating CVS stores near Clarkston are at Dixie Highway and White Lake Road and on Sashabaw Road. The participating Walgreens is at Dixie Highway and Walton Boulevard.
